NAILEAS POV:
ALL THIS TRAVELLING had made me tired.So I called an Uber to take me to Uconn and best believe I fell asleep majority of the drive.
"Hey can I get a picture my daughter is a huge fan" he said showing me a picture of his daughter
"Of course she's so cute" I replied looking at the picture of a 6 year old girl holding up my USA jersey
We took one, said our goodbyes and walked to the front of the building. This was before pre season so the place was pretty much empty with only the athletes here.
I walked through to the main reception and got all my timetables and a map for directions. I kind of remember some parts of this place from my visit in high school but only little bits
I had met with Geno previously and he asked me if I wanted a tour guide from the team but i declined saying not the worry them
He though insisted on having someone show me around so when I entered the office there stood a boy with curly brunette hair same as mine tan skin and at least 6'5
"Hi I'm Nick Alvarez, I'm on the men's basketball team" He said shaking my hand
"Hey, I'm Nailea Devora, women's basketball" I say smiling at him.
"Well if you want I can show you around then take you to the courts?" he asked showing of his dimples
He was cute
"Yeah that'd be great thank you" I answered following him to the courts
Nick took me on a tour around the school and As I walked by lots of people were looking in my direction and I hated it. I kept my head down with a hood to cover my face.
"Is it just me or are they staring" I asked
"Well you were part of the opps school I mean I would stare at you too" Nick said whispering beside me
"Boy shut up" I say shoving him lightly
"maybe they're just staring cause you're hair looks funky" I said jokingly
"Too far" the boy says holding his hair acting hurt
I just shake my head st his silliness and followed him as he showed me around
Finally we arrived at the basketball court and I saw Geno on the sidelines so I said goodbye to Nick exchanging numbers and made my way to Geno
"Hey Nai, how are you?" He asked hugging her
"I'm good Nicks been showing me around and brought me here" I tell him with no nervousness at all. Geno and I had made several times before and at this point he was more like my father figure
"So what do you think?" He asked pointing to the court as the girls were doing a scrimmage
"I mean it's ok" I tell him jokingly
"You know I've been looking for someone to warm up these benches for me" he tells me pointing at the benches
"Hey, no need to start throwing threats coach I just got here" i said raising my hands in disbelief
"Alright Devora," he said rolling his eyes
"I can introduce you to the girls. Practice is finished for today anyway" with saying that he blew his whistle to signify the end of the scrimmage
He looked at the score board and shook his head at the immense difference in points
"Ofcourse it's you four Aaliyah, Paige, Nika, Azzi why on Gods green earth did you put 90% the freshman on the other team?" He asked swatting them with his board
